Video shows difference between white, black man carrying rifle in public
A video making the rounds shows two men who are both legally carrying an AR-15 rifle in public and the subsequent reactions of police. The first guy is in Oregon, the second in Nevada.
There are plenty of other factors that do not make this a true “apples to apples” experiment, but it does play to a growing narrative in some communities that law enforcement automatically treat people different based on nothing more than skin color.
It seems to me that we need to accept and understand that all of us have inherent biases, even some we may not fully be aware of. And when that bias is applied by the authorities, it leads to anger, resentment and distrust.
