When your kid gets in trouble, do you ever side with the teacher?

This is the story that YOU wanted to hear us talk about! It received 58 percent of the vote in our Radioactive poll!

Alina Adams, a blogger for the website TheStir.com and mom of three, published a blog Friday explaining why she decided to believe her son’s teacher rather than her son after he was involved in an incident at school.

Adams, who does not disclose any information about the incident, said that choosing to believe her son’s teacher was not an easy decision.

“On the one hand, I want my children to know that I’ve got their backs — that I trust them and that I am on their side, Adams said on her blog. “But I’ve got three kids ranging in age from 8 to 15, and I used to be a kid myself. I know that kids lie. They do it for a variety of reasons: because they truly wish things had happened the way they say, because they’re self-centered and can’t see beyond their own point of view, because they don’t want to get in trouble.”

After speaking to both her son and his teacher on separate occasions, both sides would not back down and the teacher urged for an apology.

“I chose the coward’s path and split the difference,” Adams said.

She told her son she believed he acted due to his reasoning, but made him admit to the teacher that he was in the wrong, along with a written apology.

After stating her son was on financial aid at a private school, Adams admitted she chose the teacher’s side to avoid a “long, protracted battle” between her and the administration.
