You can’t blame this on the government!

It should come as no surprise that the AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) is fully supportive of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.

The group has created a variety of e-cards for parents and grandparents to send, post on Facebook, or more likely mail with a stamp to the kids in an attempt to nudge them towards insurance. Just like with the Ponzi scheme that is Social Security, the entire program is dependent on young, healthy people signing up for health insurance in order to subsidize older, sicker Americans. Without this influx of 20-somethings (whose idea of “health care” is an aspirin and Robitussin) paying for something they don’t want and most likely won’t use, the entire system collapses.

But let’s give some credit to the AARP for at least being clever when trying to pry money from the younger generation in order to cover its shortfall, unlike the folks in Colorado, who famously came up with these idiotic “Bro-surance” ads

Regardless of the motivation, and knowing the financial trouble America’s youth are in with the combination of unemployment and student-loan debt, I’m reminded of the old adage “You can’t get blood from a stone.” So laugh it up Mom and Dad, because if you think the kid still living under your roof rent-free is suddenly going to start paying $500 a month for health insurance, I have a bridge to sell you.

Let’s be honest, after the giggling ends, you are going to have to pay for their insurance anyway.
