Short Takes: World Cup bigger on Facebook than any other event in history

Short Takes is a video feature where you get to ask a host or reporter about a topic in the news and they’ll give you their take on it.

A new report says in its first week, there were more Facebook interactions about the 2014 World Cup than there were about this year’s Oscars, Super Bowl and Winter Olympics combined.

Specifically, 141 million people had 459 million interactions (posts, comments and likes) about the soccer tournament from June 12-18 on Facebook.
