Movies in a Minute: ‘Selma’

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala. became one of the most significant victories in the fight for equal voting rights during the 1960s. “Selma” recreates the months up to the march and the in-fighting he encountered within his own community.

An important story in our civil rights history, this movie not only touches on the King as a powerful person, but it goes into his relationship with President Lyndon B. Johnson and his marital troubles at home.

I enjoyed this film quite a bit and think it shows the impact of King’s march on American history. It will be up for nominations and I would be surprised if “Selma” doesn’t win a few of them.
