Other officer from Monday’s shooting released from hospital

PHOENIX — The second officer shot on Monday has been released from St. Joseph’s Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Albert Jacob Casados was released Wednesday morning and was resting at home.

According to Sgt. Steve Martos he was shot on his right side.

Casados is a 37-year-old with a wife and children. He has been with the Phoenix Police Department for nine years, three of those being with the Major Offenders Bureau.

“That’s a quick transition from patrol to that type of assignment,” said Phoenix Police Chief Daniel Garcia “That gives you an idea of the caliber of detective he is. He’s an outstanding police officer and we are honored to have him with us still.”

His partner, John Hobbs, succumbed to his injuries Monday evening.

A BBQ to benefit the families of Hobbs and Casados is Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. at the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association garage, 1102 West Adams in Phoenix.

100 percent of the donations at the event will be donated to the families.
