Russian national arrested at Sky Harbor in Phoenix woman’s shooting death
PHOENIX — A Russian national accused of shooting a woman to death was caught before boarding a flight at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Phoenix police say 26-year-old Igor Zubko was arrested Friday night without incident and faces several charges, including murder.
Police spokesman Trent Crump says a roommate found the 22-year-old victim dead in their south Phoenix home around 5 p.m. Friday.
Crump says a handgun and shell casings were on the floor.
Investigators say the victim had served an order of protection on Zubko on July 14. Police did not identify the victim. The suspect allegedly threatened her afterward, said police, who did not identify the victim.
Police went to the airport after discovering Zubko had purchased a ticket for a flight to San Francisco.
Zubko told police the shooting was accidental.
