Bravo star sells more than $1B in New York City real estate

Fredrik Eklund has become somewhat of a real estate sales icon in New York City.

Of course, it probably doesn’t hurt that he also has a huge showroom in the form of his Bravo TV series, “Million Dollar Listing New York.”

The high-energy, Swedish-born broker and his team set a new real estate sales record this week, eclipsing their $1 billion from last year. Eklund said his team will hit $1.128 billion in 2015 after closing on his 219 active listings.

Along with a picture of several high rises and skyscrapers against a backdrop of pink clouds, Eklund shared the news on Instagram in a message that read, in part, “Yes, that’s a lot more than I could ever have dreamed of when I moved to this city with just a pair of worn out sneakers little over a decade ago.”

Eklund, 38, was named the top selling agent in New York City last year by real estate magazine, The Real Deal. He and his business partner, John Gomes, comprise the top team at Douglas Elliman, one of the nation’s top residential brokerages. The company reported $18 billion in real estate sales nationwide last year.

In addition to being on top of the real estate world in the Empire State, Eklund is also a rising star in the world of publishing. His new book “The Sell,” is now a New York Times bestseller. In it, Fredrik shares some of the secrets of his selling success, tips he recently told the New York Daily News can be applied to just about everyone in all kinds of situations.

“It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in,” he told the paper. “After all, we’re all selling ourselves all the time, whether you’re on a date, on a job interview, or just negotiating with your dog.”

You can watch Fredrik and his fellow agents lock down New York real estate deals on “Million Dollar Listing New York” Wednesday nights on Bravo.
