The future of truck driving has arrived

According to pzfeed.com, Freightliner has been given the green light to test its self-driving tractor-trailer truck in the state of Nevada.

Daimler, the company behind the innovative idea, says the move to self-driving semis has a lot to do with curbing driver shortages across the country. Though drivers will still technically be required to be behind the wheel of the automated semis, the responsibility of the person in the driver’s seat will be to more or less monitor the vehicle’s vitals and serve as backup in case something goes wrong with the truck on the open road.

While the future may be rapidly approaching, for now, the automated trucks only have clearance to operate on limited access interstates.
