Cave Creek man accused of manslaughter in a fatal crash

PHOENIX — Bond has been set at $50,000 for a Cave Creek man arrested after
a car crash killed a motorcyclist.

Maricopa County prosecutors said 58-year-old Dennis Peters is being held on
suspicion of manslaughter after Saturday night’s collision on Cave Creek Road.

Peters didn’t have an attorney at his initial court appearance Monday.

Phoenix police said Peters had a blood-alcohol level of .195 percent following
the collision. They say state law classifies driving with a blood alcohol
content of .150 percent as extreme DUI.

Police said Peters smelled strongly of alcohol after the crash, had difficulties
standing and admitted to having four or five beers.

The crash caused the motorcycle to catch fire and the driver died at a hospital
less than an hour afterward. His name hasn’t been released yet.
