Phoenix car company CEO calls out movie studio over lookalike car

PHOENIX — A Valley car company CEO is furious that a box-office megafranchise features a car that bears a striking resemblance to one of his own.

The vehicle in question appears in “Fast and Furious 7.”

Jay Rogers of Local Motors told the Phoenix Business Journal that a military car protoype was entered in a crowdsourced competition in 2011. Victor Garcia of Texas won with the Flypmode.

Rogers’ team built the XC2V (Experimental Crowd-derived Combat Super Vehicle) said no credit was listed for the design or builder.

Rogers told the Journal that he wouldn’t pursue legal action until he’d spoken with Universal Studios.
