If you have ever been in need of a helping hand, you know how much it means when someone offers to help.

When Ashley Jiron, owner of P.B. Jams, noticed someone had been rummaging through the trash in need of food, she decided to serve up more than just a good sandwich, the Huffington Post reported.

The Warr Acres, Oklahoma restaurant owner posted signs around the building, offering those in need a complementary sandwich, fresh veggies and a glass of water — no questions asked.

The note says:

“To the person going through our trash for their next meal,

-Your friend, the owner.”

Jiron said she was compelled to do something to help the mysterious person in need.

“I think we’ve all been in that position where we needed someone’s help and we just needed someone to extend that hand,” Jiron said in an interview with KFOR. “If I can be that one person to extend that hand to another human being then I will definitely do it.”

Since then, Jiron has started a “pay-it-forward” system called #ShareTheNuts, where customers could pre-pay for a meal. So far, about 50 meals have been redeemed, Jiron said to the Huffington Post.

Any donations not claimed by the end of the month will go toward purchasing meals for a local homeless shelter.
