Faith in Humanity: Boy raises money for sick friend

Many kids set up lemonade stands to raise extra money.

Tristan Regini, 8, needed something that would warm up the cold weather in Denver where he lives. Enter the idea to sell and make hot chocolate, with or without marshmallows of course.

And what Regini was truly raising money for warmed hearts as well. Regini’s friend Cade Humpreys was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. After undergoing extensive treatment for a brain tumor, he has not shown signs of cancer since April 2014, according to the Huffington Post.

Humpreys even helped his friend reopen the hot chocolate stand this past weekend.

Regini’s first gift to the Children’s Hospital Colorado was $402.05, and his sales continue to grow.

This gift is particularly meaningful because it demonstrates the youngest members of our community giving to enhance the hospital experience for his peers,” Cary Larger, senior vice president of community fundraising at Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation, said in a statement to ABC News.

Regini says he is happy to give his money and time, because the hospital kept his friend alive.
