Dancing shoes on, people: Dueling piano bar to return to Tempe

PHOENIX — Music lovers, rejoice: Dueling pianos will soon return to downtown Tempe, Arizona.

Rck Cty replaced the Big Bang at Fifth Street and Mill Avenue in September. Owner Austin Walter said dueling pianos will be added when the venue reopens as Low Key on Feb. 19.

“We recognized the demand for pianos the area still has and we can’t ignore the voices of reason (our customers) and have decided to close RCK CTY, bring back everyone’s favorite entertainers and a couple more, and relaunching the piano concept,” Austin Walter said in a Facebook message.

While Low Key will be similar to the Big Bang, Walter said he has “a few surprises” in store as he looks to “modernize the concept of the dueling piano bar.”

Dueling pianos will be played Wednesday-Sunday until the conclusion of the Cactus League. They will then shift to a Thursday-Saturday schedule.

The venue will also host karaoke nights, open jam sessions and live music.
