Health coverage sign-ups closing in on deadline

PHOENIX — The deadline for signing up for health care is Sunday and won’t be available again until fall.

“A lot of times what we find is people think, ‘Oh it’s going to be too expensive I can’t afford that,’ or ‘There isn’t going to be a plan that works for me,’ ” Melissa Stafford Jones, regional director with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said.

“And what we really want people to do, is find out what their options are,” Jones said.

The majority of people who are coming in to sign up can find a plan that costd less than $100 a month, she said.

There is also financial assistance for those who qualify, she said.

People can sign up or schedule an appointment online
or by calling 211.
