Flagstaff’s Snowbowl an attractive alternative to Super Bowl fever

If you’re looking for a respite from all the Super Bowl madness, Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff is an attractive alternative — and a much less expensive ticket than one to the big game in Glendale.

The Snowbowl ski grounds received nearly six inches of snow Thursday night — one reason why Jason Stratton, Snowbowl’s director of sales and marketing, says now is the best time to get away.

“Any time we get fresh snow, it’s always a great time to get up here to make some turns, and what a beautiful location to be two hours from the Super Bowl,” he said. “You can be in the mountains and ski in the same day.”

Snowbowl is advertising adult lift tickets for as low as $42 from Feb. 1-6, along with free lodging with the purchase of a $62 lift ticket from Feb. 1-5 and 8-12.

The weekend forecast predicts another 20-plus inches of snow may be on its way to the mountain.
