Katy Perry promises fireworks during Arizona Super Bowl halftime show

PHOENIX — Pop star Katy Perry promised audiences will be blown away by her halftime performance during Sunday’s Super Bowl in Glendale, Ariz.

Speaking at a press conference in Phoenix on Thursday, Perry said her show would utilize a large graphics show, plenty of outfit changes and even “a lion and sharks.”

“It’s going to be wild out there,” Perry said.

Perry, 30, has already recruited rock star Lenny Kravitz to play the show alongside her, but revealed there is one more surprise guest in store.

“I have to keep some surprises for Sunday,” she said. “I’m very, very excited about this guest because I thought long and hard about it and wanted to kind of bring someone back — a throwback of sorts.”

Perry refused to give more information on her guest. She would only say audiences would recognize the artist from the first chord.

The singer remained coy throughout the press conference, only alluding to a “spectacular” entrance, a “melody” of songs and numerous outfit changes.

“All I’ll say about my opening costume is it’s going to be flaming hot,” she said.

But don’t worry, parents. She’s not planning on any wardrobe malfunctions, a la Janet Jackson.

“I’ll be looking out for myself,” she said. “I’ve done plenty of fittings. I’m working with my costumes on the field already.”

Of course, with celebrities, everyone wanted to know which player she has her eye on.

“I’m just here so I don’t get fined,” she replied, alluding to the stubbornness of Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.
