A new federal law requires all applicable, alleged crimes committed on U.S. cruise ships to be reported publicly on a Department of Transportation website.
“The public will now be able to go to one site and determine the crimes or alleged crimes for all the (U.S.) cruise lines,” said Ken Carver, chairman of International Cruise Victims. “That’s a big step forward.”
He said the bill also requires that all missing persons be reported.
“Now that’s significant because about every two weeks, somebody goes missing on a cruise ship,” he said.
Carver’s 40-year-old daughter, Merrian Carver went missing while on a cruise to Alaska in 2004.
