Latest round of Pacific storms will bring colder temperatures to Arizona

PHOENIX — A new round of storms was expected to arrive in Arizona late Tuesday and while it doesn’t appear to be as wet as last weekend, it’s a colder storm front.

Overnight lows could drop into the 40s in the Valley and in the teens in Flagstaff.

Hector Vasquez with National Weather Service said there be sprinkles locally but the brunt of this storm should hit Wednesday. The Valley could see about a quarter inch of rain but

“Phoenix is pretty close to the storm center and as you get closer to the Mexican border, it’s lighter rain,” Vasquez said.

More of the rain will fall north of the Valley — Coconino, Gila and Yavapai counties, he said.

The storm could dump 3-5 inches of snow in Flagstaff. David Vonderheide with the weather bureau in Bellemont, near Flagstaff, said the San Francisco Peaks could see a foot of snow.
