One Florida family has already encountered Santa this holiday season.

The Boynton Beach Police Department released a video earlier this week of two officers surprising a family with a Christmas tree.

The Huffington Post reports Boynton Beach officers Barry Ward, 49, and Terrence Paramore, 27, responded to a hangup last weekend and found out a baby had been playing with the phone in the house.

But while the police were there, they also noticed that the family was struggling financially.

“They spoke with the child’s mother about the holidays coming up and she mentioned that times were tough for her as a single mother,” Stephanie Slater, police department spokesperson, wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. “The little girl made mention that she was sad they didn’t have a Christmas tree.”

So the two officers went to The Home Depot the following day to get some Christmas supplies.

Not only did the partners get a tree, but they also purchased a stand, ornaments and lights for the needy family.

Slater told HuffPost that the grateful girl’s reaction to the gift “melted their hearts.”

The officers reportedly plan on returning to the residence later in the month with Christmas presents, some of which have been donated by other members of the community.
