Chandler Police ready to party with neighbors

It’s block party time in Chandler.

The annual neighborhood and police event is coming up next month and the Chandler Police Department is looking for neighborhoods that are interested in participating.

“It’s a lot of fun for the neighborhood, they’re usually kind of a block party,” Chandler Police Detective Seth Tyler said. “So there’s food. Some neighborhoods will have bounce houses, face painting … and different things like that.”

A neighborhood can even request police specialty units to visit the block party, he said.

G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods, much like National Night Out, celebrates crime prevention through neighborhood involvement.

But Tyler said it’s also about being fun and social, where residents can meet officers from the various units.

Kickoff for this year’s event is scheduled for Oct. 25 and will run from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
