Faith in Humanity: Cop saves baby, 20 years later he goes to her wedding

A baby who almost didn’t live to see another day, grew up and got married over the weekend. And among the attendees was the man who saved her, reported NBC Chicago.

Shammah Hamideh was an infant living with her family outside New York City when she suddenly stopped breathing. Officer Joseph Barca got the call, rushed to the home and performed CPR to get the baby breathing again.

The officer and the family stayed in touch and when Hamideh began planning her wedding in a Chicago suburb, there wasn’t a doubt who would be on the guest list. He also went to her engagement party.

“He’s my hero,” Hamideh said. “There’s not much more I can say. He’s my hero and he means so much to me,” she told the station.

Barca, now a police captain in Yonkers, went to the wedding with his wife.
