Phoenix library program helps students prepare for college

PHOENIX — For high school students, it’s never too soon to start planning for college.

College Depot at the Burton Barr Central Library is offering six free workshops this August to help get students on their way to college.

“College Depot has a wide array of programs scheduled for this fall,” said Director Judy Reno. “We have financial aid essentials, for example, which is a great opportunity for students and families to learn about how to pay for college.”

There is also help for writing college applications, essays and choosing the right college. The sessions are about an hour, Reno said.

“We’re kind of like a college and career center that you would have in a high school, except that we belong to the community, and so everyone is welcome to use our services,” Reno said.
