Terminally ill boy has one wish: birthday cards

Danny Nickerson is 5 years old and was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor last October.

He had to leave kindergarten to undergo radiation treatments and chemotherapy. Danny turns 6 this Friday, and all he wants for his birthday is birthday cards.

Earlier this month, Nickerson’s mom, Carley, took to Facebook to send out a plea for her son. She said he loves receiving mail and loves to read cards. She asked if friends would be willing to send a card to him for his sixth birthday.

Over the last few weeks, hundreds of cards and packages have been pouring in from all around the world.

“We are so shocked,” Nickerson wrote on Facebook. “We are so lucky and blessed to have all of you on this journey with us! Thank you so much for all the love, support and prayers.”

Nickerson also mentioned that Danny loves Lego and Super Mario.

The little boy from Foxboro, Mass. was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a condition from which less than 10 percent of sufferers live longer than 18 months.

Let’s show Danny some Arizona love.

If you want to send Danny a card here’s the address:

Danny Nickerson
P.O. Box 212
Foxboro, MA 02035

I’m putting my card in the mail Tuesday. It’s the simplest act of kindness which will certainly brighten one little boy’s day!
