I applaud Miss Indiana Mekayla Diehl and her natural body

Over the weekend, 50 stunning women took the stage at the Miss USA 2014 pageant.

Miss Nevada, Nia Sanchez, won the competition, but its Miss Indiana, Mekayla Diehl, who is getting all of the attention.

Diehl sported a “normal”-looking bikini body during the swimsuit round. Her figure was beautiful and toned, but not skinny. All 50 incredibly fit women took the stage in the same white bikini, but Diehl definitely stole the stole with her confident strut and curvy, healthy-looking physique.

Social media was immediately buzzing about how refreshing it was to see a contestant with an attainable looking body, and not someone who had drastically cut calories and spent two hours in the gym every day.

I couldn’t agree more!

Every woman has a different body type. Some are naturally skinny, others are not. I think it’s important for women to embrace their curves, and be comfortable in their own skin. What’s most important is to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

When young girls see the images of Hollywood celebrities and supermodels on magazine covers, they don’t realize the photos that they’re looking at don’t represent mainstream America. The average woman is a size 12, not a size 0. Being “supermodel thin” is not realistic or healthy for the average women, and besides, why does society say that should be the goal?

Diehl herself spoke out on Twitter after she received so much praise for her healthy-looking figure.

“So cool I worked hard on my body without obsessing over being too skinny and I couldn’t be more proud.”

Diehl is a wonderfully inspiration and role model for all women.

You go, girl!
