Would you try a Krispy Kreme double cheeseburger?

How does a Krispy Kreme double cheeseburger sound?

Personally, I think it sounds disgusting.

The Krispy Kreme Double Cheeseburger is the brainchild of San Diego’s Chicken Charlie’s, who will debut the monstrosity at the San Diego County Fair from June 7 to July 16.

The burger is made of two glazed donuts, two beef patties and two slices of cheese. And not to disappoint, there’s a triple cheeseburger version as well.

Chicken Charlie’s will also be introducing the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe later this year.

To be clear, I’m a fan of donuts AND cheeseburgers, just not together. I know food at county fairs can get a little crazy (and is usually deep fried), but what concerns me is the trend in general toward these heart stopping culinary creations. What’s the point?

Don’t we eat enough fat, sugar and salt as a society without these overindulgent calorie laden creations? And this type of food is not just available once a year at county fairs.

For example, Taco Bell recently rolled out a new fast food invention: the “Waffle Taco.” It’s a sausage patty, a hearty scoop of scrambled eggs and syrup cradled in a waffle that’s been folded like a taco shell.

Of course any of these foods are fine in moderation, but they are becoming more of the norm rather than the exception.

When one of the most talked about restaurants in the country is the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas, which uses the slogan “Taste worth dying for,” you know we have a problem.
