Faith in Humanity: Muslim man gives shoeless passenger his shoes
Imagine you just hopped on a bus. You’re heading home from a long day at work and want to relax on the ride. You see a man wearing plastic hairnets as shoes. What would you do?
According to the Huffington Post, one Muslim passenger made an incredible gesture: He took of his shoes on the spot and gave them to the man who had none.
The bus driver, Surjit Singh Virk, said he had never seen anything like it in his 16 years of driving buses.
“It made my heart melt,” Virk explained to QMI Agency. “He just took his shoes and socks off and said, ‘You can take these, don’t worry about me — I live close by and can walk.'”
When reached by phone, the kind-hearted man asked QMI Agency not to identify him, because his Muslim faith teaches that charitable acts should be anonymous. He is a 27-year-old resident of Surrey, British Columbia in Canada and was coming from the nearby B.C. Muslim Association mosque.
The Facebook post garnered plenty of positive reactions from both Muslims and non-Muslims.
