Texas boy uses PlayStation money to buy smoke detectors

When you save money as a kid, everyone knows how important that is to you.

You work hard to earn it, be it through yard work, other chores or putting aside your weekly allowance. It takes time to save that money.

And according to the Huffington Post, one Texas boy decided to put that money to good use.

Hector Montoya, 9, was saving up to buy a PlayStation 4. He had about $300 in the bank, but when a fire killed two of his neighbors, he instead bought 100 smoke detectors to be installed in the neighborhood.

“Saving a life is more important,” Hector told [CNN].

Montoya said he would just save more money to buy the system, but he didn’t have to. Other people donated money to buy him the system and additional money for more smoke detectors.
