PHOENIX — Former Olympic gold medalist Amy Van Dyken-Rouen continued her inspirational recovery Monday, when she kicked her husband’s hand.

The other video shows Van Dyken-Rouen standing up and letting go of one of her hand supports.

Ever since an ATV accident severed her spine and left her paralyzed a year ago, Van Dyken-Rouen has been making improbable steps in physical therapy, including working out in rehab just weeks after her setback.

She also rode a bike in October 2014, passed a driver’s test in January and walked with crutches in April.
