Study finds the four types of drunks

A study by the University of Missouri-Columbia asked 364 people about how they act under the influence, according to the Telegraph.

The participants were put in four categories based on famous figures – Ernest Hemingway, Mary Poppins, the Nutty Professor and Mr. Hyde.

Most people were Ernest Hemingway, which means they change very little when they drink. As Hemingway once wrote he could “drink hells any amount of whiskey without getting drunk”.

The Nutty Professor included 20% of participants, mainly men, who become much more animated and outgoing when they drink as opposed to their reserved, sober personality.

Mr. Hydes made up 23% of those studied and two-thirds were women. These are people who have a “tendency of being particularly less responsible, less intellectual, and more hostile when under the influence of alcohol than they are when they are sober”.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, a Mary Poppins drunk is someone who is sweet and responsible when drinking and end up with few alcohol-related problems.

If only we could all be Mary Poppins, but sadly only 15% of those studied turn into the sweet British nanny.
