Faith in Humanity: Daughter suprises blind, deaf mother with 3D bust
Faith Altheide was born deaf and has recently had two huge losses — her vision and her husband.
As if that wasn’t hard enough, the widow’s daughter, Denise, is now heading off to college. Patricia Ingraham, Altheide’s advocate and friend, wanted to ease the transition by having a 3D-printed bust of Denise made.
Ingraham asked for help from two middle school math teachers from Bunker Hill, Indiana, Ron Shaffer and Cory Howard. Shaffer and Howard pieced together the bust with pictures of Denise to create a mock-up.
Watch the video above to see the process and Faith’s reaction when presented with the bust.
