Navy SEAL who killed bin Laden calls Hersh report ‘a joke’

This is the story that YOU wanted to hear us talk about! It received 50 percent of the vote in our Radioactive poll!

Former Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill isn’t too thrilled with journalist Seymour Hersh’s recent article claiming the White House lied about the plot to kill Osama bin Laden.

In an interview with Fox News Monday, O’Neill said Hersh’s article was “full of lies,” as Hersh claims that the mission to kill bin Laden actually involved a far-reaching cover up. The crux of Hersh’s piece centers on mostly anonymous sources claiming that the United States in fact worked in concert with Pakistan in order to learn of bin Laden’s whereabouts and eventually devise a plan to kill the former Al Qaeda leader.

Of course, both governments have publicly claimed that Pakistan had no prior knowledge of the mission prior to its execution in May 2011.

“When I was first sent this article, I thought it was a joke,” O’Neill told Fox News. “This thing is so ludicrous it’s almost an insult to the word ‘ludicrous.’

“For this guy (Hersh) to have a few guys from Pakistan just lie to him and to write this ridiculous story, it’s a comedy,” he said. “Everything we said we did, we did. The story, it took me a long time to read it because I had to put it down. I couldn’t read the nonsense.”

Despite O’Neill — and the White House — publicly condemning Hersh’s report, the former Pulitzer Prize winning reporter has remained steadfast in defending his article.
