Grant will allow Arizona nurses to focus on prevention

PHOENIX — Officials plan to use $250,000 in grant money to teach Arizona nurses to concentrate on keeping people out of the hospital.

“This grant will help us collect the necessary information that we need, so that we can deliver the best patient care to Arizonans and educate them and keep them healthy,” Robin Schaeffer, executive director of the Arizona Nurses Association, said.

Schaeffer said the state’s health care system is shifting away from the standard sick patient model to one based more on prevention.

“We want to keep people out of the hospital, and really all about health prevention and health promotion,” she said.
