New travel app lets you check in during flight

This is the story that YOU wanted to hear us talk about! It received 40 percent of the vote in our Radioactive poll!

You can do just about anything nowadays with social media. In our technology-centered universe, it’s all about where you are and which friends are nearby, and it seems like people are checking on their phones all over the place, from restaurants to sporting events and more. And now, you can even check in on your next flight, Fox News reports.

Quicket is a new app on Android and Apple smartphones and tablets that is billed as the “one-stop-app for all your travel needs.” Users can book flights, track flight statuses and navigate through unfamiliar airports.

Quicket’s newest feature is the one causing a stir, however. “Social check-in” allows users to anonymously browse the Facebook profiles of fellow passengers that are also Quicket users. So, if the passenger in 12-D catches your eye, you might be able to spark a conversation that way from the comfort of your own seat.

Quicket also gives access to airplane seat maps through email, Twitter and Facebook, so you can easily see if any of your friends are also on your flight. But don’t worry, only users who choose to opt in to the new feature will have their movements tracked.

“Only users who approve the social feature will be presented on the flight,” a company spokesman said to the Daily Mail. But travelers must be checked in themselves flight to browse others.
