Smoking is dumb so quit

Smoking isn’t cool. It doesn’t make us look tough, more attractive to women, or make us feel like a rebel from a 1960’s action movie. And we all know it.

We all know the truth about smoking: it’s a nasty habit that turns teeth a disgusting shade of yellow, makes clothes stink, makes people not want to be around you, is expensive, and worst of all causes serious health conditions like lung cancer and heart disease.

With all the baggage that comes with smoking, it begs the question, why do so many people still do it? A simple answer is that nicotine is highly addictive and despite you’re desire to quit, it can be extremely hard. If you’re still smoking, I’m sure you have tried quitting at some point. You know that smoking drains your health and your wallet. Ask yourself this: When’s the last time you actually enjoyed a cigarette? In the last few years, more than 250,000 Arizonans, have quit smoking. If they can do it, you can too. Quitting is hard, but not impossible.

In Arizona we have a great resource that can help you quit. The Arizona Smokers’ Helpline (ASHLine) has been helping people quit tobacco since 1995. The ASHLine offers free telephone and Web-based quit services and provides free training and technical assistance to healthcare providers statewide. You can reach the ASHLine at (800) 556-6222.
