It’s 3:30 p.m., the middle of the afternoon on Monday, May 9th. A 19-year-old resident of an apartment complex at Camelback and 57th Avenue decided to run over to the store.

“He jumps over a wall to gain access to the shopping center and he’s confronted by two suspects,” Phoenix police sergeant Darren Birch said.

Birch said one of the guys pulled out a gun and said ‘This is a robbery fool.'”

“The victim ended up trying to fight the gunman, was able to fight him to a certain degree,” Birch said. “The second suspect then intervened and pulled the victim’s shirt over his head to try to stop him from fighting.

“The victim broke free and at that point the second suspect told the first suspect to shoot him, and the first suspect did.”

The victim was shot in the shoulder but survived.

“The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 19 years of age, five-foot-eight, 200 pounds,” Birch said. “The second one, similar description, he’s also a Hispanic male, approximately 19 years of age, five-foot-eight, but he’s thinner build and he has three distinctive tattoos under his left eye. The tattoo is of three dots.”

Birch said the suspects are very dangerous.
